{"componentChunkName":"component---src-templates-project-js","path":"/portfolio/mri-vizualizations","result":{"data":{"markdownRemark":{"html":"<p>When someone I knew got some MRIs in 2015, I asked for the data to try to make a 3D visualization of it with a Vive:</p>\n<p><img src=\"/uploads/dicom-viewer-01-.gif\" alt=\"MRI visualizations of head and chest\"></p>\n<p>Later, I also needed to get one because my family has a medical history of weird brain stuff. I got the data from that, too, and iterated on this prototype making the shader a little nicer. I made the quads fade in and out based on the direction you looked at them from:</p>\n<p><img src=\"/uploads/under-the-skin.gif\" alt=\"Directional facing\"></p>\n<p>I also added better opacity controls:</p>\n<p><img src=\"/uploads/opacity-controls.gif\" alt=\"Opacity controls\"></p>\n<p>Then I put it inside my avatar, which means I can use VR to step outside my body and legitimately look inside my head at my own brain.</p>\n<p><img src=\"/uploads/avatar-visualization-cut.gif\" alt=\"Looking inside my own head\"></p>\n<p>Using the Zed Mini on an Oculus Rift, I can do some creepy stuff with occlusion in XR</p>\n<p><img src=\"/uploads/zed-passthrough_cut.gif\" alt=\"Looking in my head with XR\"></p>","frontmatter":{"title":"MRI VIZUALIZATIONS"}}},"pageContext":{"id":"7e7fad92-307a-56a8-8eb4-af06a7079420"}},"staticQueryHashes":["1946499362","2606206317","3275389545","3649515864","4249971475"]}
